Despite what the Prosecutors might say in Court, Parking is not always an Absolute Liability Offence. One example; If signage is required and there were no signs. (Keep in mind that signs are not always required.)
For $5.00 we will file for a Court date for you. (We have special rates for businesses.) Contact us Most importantly, we will scrutinize the tickets for discrepancies, and those with sufficient discrepancy, will be cancelled immediately. (Please note, the $5.00 is only for filing for a Court date, not to appear at Trial.) You, will be appearing at the Trial to tell your story. If you want us to appear at the Trial for you, contact us when you receive the Notice of Trial.
The fee for us to appear at trial for you is from $10.00 - $15.00. It depends on the original fine on the ticket and the number of items you have in court.
Send us; (Mailing address at bottom) (1) The ticket along with $5.00. (2) The name and full address (including Postal Code) on the registration of the vehicle ticketed. (3) Your phone number, email address and the language you’ll be comfortable with in court. If you need an interpreter, let us know; one will be provided at no cost to you. (Sign language included) It is a good idea to keep a photo-copy of your ticket; we are not responsible for lost tickets.
We will apply for a court date (Notice of Intention to Appear) for you. All correspondence pertaining to the ticket will be mailed to the owner of the vehicle. It cannot be mailed to us or anyone else. It takes about 5 months to 1 year, for your case to get to trial. If you want us to appear at the trial on your behalf, you can contact us again, after you have received a “Notice of Trial.” The $5.00 paid for filing does not include the cost to appear at the trial on your behalf. Important: Also include with the ticket, a self-addressed envelope with a postage stamp. (Without postage add $1.00.)
After filing for a court date; we will mail you a copy of the Notice of Intention to Appear. It will be stamped and dated by the Parking Ticket Office, as proof of filing. Keep that document securely, it's the only proof you have that you have taken action. In a few months you will receive a Notice of Trial, showing your court date. We’ll scrutinize the ticket; if we find sufficient discrepancies, (and we do) resulting in cancellation of that ticket, you will be required to pay us an additional amount, to equal half of the original fine on that ticket.
Example; Fine on ticket $60.00 - Amount sent with ticket; $10.00- additional payment required $20.00 From time to time, tickets are cancelled or withdrawn en masse. Whether this is done by; the court, the prosecutor, the issuing officer, or by legislation, we will not refund any payment made to us. If you just want us to pay your tickets; write a cheque for the full amount of the fine to; City of Toronto. Include a separate cheque for $5.00 to; GTA Legal Services. we will mail you your receipt. Please do not mail cash.
